Research summary: His primary research areas focus on palaeobiology, palaeobiodiversity, geobiology and palaeoceanography of radiolarians. He is the author of 114 publications (84 rank A, 29 rank B, 1 book chapter). He has been the supervisor of 4 post-docs (2-12 months), 9 PhD students and several Masters and undergraduate students.

He is responsible for the management of 22 scientific projects, funded by the CNRS (ECLIPSE II, TELLUS/INTERRVIE, Echanges de chercheurs, ODP France), the Ministry of Higher Education and Research (“coup de pouce” project,  Centre Franco-Sibérien), the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs (ECO-NET, PHC with China), the European SYNTHESYS programme, the Middle East Basin Evolution (MEBE) and DARIUS programmes and the University of Lille (BQR international, IRePSE). He has geological field experience in many countries (Armenia, Cyprus, France, United States, Greece, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom, Russia, etc.). He has several visits to marine biology laboratories (USA, France, UK, Norway) and major European museums (London, Berlin, Stockholm) and he joined Leg 207 of the Deep Ocean Drilling Programme (O.D.P.) in 2013.
