Research summary: Her expertise lies in the field of marine palynology (Quaternary organic-walled dinoflagellate cysts) as well as pollen, spores and other NPPs. Her research interests are centred of the reconstruction of Quaternary paleoenvironments from the Arctic to the Antarctic and in particular from the Eastern Mediterranean-Black Sea-Caspian Sea corridor.

She has more than three decades of experience on global dinoflagellate cyst distribution, their ecology and taxonomy. She is expert in marine palynology, notably in West equatorial Africa and NE and SW Pacific. She has greatly contributed to the development of modern databases of dinocysts for quantitative reconstructions of past sea-surface conditions and published global and regional atlases on modern dinocysts.

She has a very large experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students in the field of Physical Geography, notably on Quaternary environmental changes and Micropaleontology.
