Margarita Dimiza
Appointment: Associate Professor of Micropaleontology-Environmental Micropaleontology
Research summary: She is Assoc. Professor of Micropaleontology-Environmental Micropaleontology in the Faculty of Geology and Geoenvironment at the University of Athens, where she also received her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.
Her primary research activity is in the area of Marine Micropaleontology. She has used both coccolithophores and benthic foraminifera as research organisms and her interests are focused on their life cycles, taxonomy, distribution, and biodiversity in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, as well as on their application in environmental and earth science problems.
Currently, she is working on applications of microfossils of the Aegean Sea in the context of environmental monitoring of marine ecosystems.
She has participated in several national and international research projects.
She has co-authored three books and more than 50 papers in peer-reviewed journals.
